The BYD Seagull will be smaller than the Dolphin and is expected to have a starting price of less than 100,000 yuan ($15,000), according to local media.

BYD had previously diverted some of its commercial vehicle production line capacity in order to secure production capacity for the DM-i models.

Since deliveries began in July 2020, BYD's flagship Han family of sedans has sold a total of 281,293 units.
