- CATL will hold its most technology-intensive launch event to date on April 21.
- CATL is expected to roll out new sodium-ion batteries, condensed battery technologies, and upgraded fast-charging products.

CATL plans to unveil a series of breakthrough battery technologies, including sodium-ion batteries, condensed batteries, and fast-charging tech at its upcoming tech day, according to a Monday report by local media outlet Cailian.
The company said when releasing its first-quarter earnings earlier this month that the tech day event, scheduled for April 21, will be the most technology-dense launch event since CATL's inception, the report noted.
The company will bring new technologies, products, and ecosystems, each pointing to the issues the industry cares about most, CATL said at the time.
CATL said on Weibo on April 15 that it will hold a tech day event on April 21, which will kick off at 7:00 pm Beijing time.

On April 18, in a new Weibo post, CATL teased the event again and reviewed its past major technological milestones.
These milestones include the Qilin Battery with a range of over 1,000 kilometers, and the Shenxing Battery that adds 400 kilometers of range on a 10-minute charge.
It also specifically mentioned its sodium-ion battery technology, which performs excellently in extreme low temperatures. In an extremely cold environment of minus 40 degrees Celsius, its new sodium battery can still maintain 90% of its capacity.
In February, CATL and Changan Automobile jointly unveiled a model equipped with sodium-ion batteries in the freezing city of Yakeshi, Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, which is expected to hit the market in mid-2026.
CATL achieved a net profit of 20.74 billion yuan ($3.01 billion) in the first quarter, representing a 48.52% year-on-year growth.
The company is trying to consolidate its absolute leadership in the increasingly competitive battery industry, as peers roll out new technologies.
BYD launched its second-generation Blade Battery and the latest flash-charging technology last month, allowing vehicles to charge from 10% to 90% in 9 minutes. These technologies have already been used in more than a dozen BYD models.
CATL and BYD are China's two largest battery makers, holding shares of 45.54% and 17.83 percent, respectively, in China in March in terms of overall installed volume.
