Tesla will put more emphasis on lower-cost suburban stores that can also offer repair services to improve service to existing customers, according to Reuters.

From January to August, the Tesla Model Y is also the best-selling premium SUV in China with 172,418 retail sales.

Tesla announced the development today as China approaches the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival holiday over the weekend, which is typically a peak travel time.

Tesla China exported 42,463 vehicles in August, the highest since production began at Tesla's Shanghai plant. This means Chinese consumers received deliveries of 34,502 vehicles.

With the exception of the entry-level Model Y, which has a wait time of 1-4 weeks, Tesla has further reduced the expected delivery dates for all of its models in China by 6 weeks.

Although Tesla encountered brief pressure on parts supply, production was strong after the end of July, Cui Dongshu said.

On August 18, Tesla just shortened the wait times for all available models in China.

Tesla had more than 1,200 Supercharger stations and nearly 9,000 Superchargers in the Chinese mainland as of August 30.

Tesla's China-made models have no current plans to use any new models of batteries, including the 4680 cell, it said.

In the Chinese mainland, Tesla has opened more than 1,200 Supercharger stations, including more than 8,900 charging piles.
