Two workers on the production line at Tesla's Shanghai plant were cited by local media as saying they could receive three times their usual pay for the first three days of the holiday, which runs from October 1-7.

The wait times for all versions of the Model 3 and Model Y have become longer, starting at 4 weeks, except for the entry-level Model Y, which still has an expected delivery date starting at 1 week.

Tesla began offering Chinese consumers a discount on insurance purchases last month, but didn't market it publicly. This is the first time it has publicly marketed for it.

Tesla's main selling model in China, the Model Y, is expected to see a price cut of up to RMB 40,000 ($5,616), bringing the starting price of the rear-wheel drive version of the Model Y down to possibly RMB 270,000 to 290,000, according to local media.

Tesla plans to keep production at its Shanghai plant at about 93 percent of capacity by the end of the year, according to a Reuters report.

From January to August, the Model Y sold 172,418 units in China, nearly tripling the sales of the Model 3, which has the seventh highest value retention rate.

Tesla will increase capacity by increasing the number of employees and improving the frequency of material turnover, with an estimated 4,000 new employees after the production line optimization is completed.

To date, Tesla has more than 1,300 Supercharger stations in the Chinese mainland, offering more than 9,000 Superchargers.

Local media earlier today cited several Tesla salespeople as saying that a small number of existing Model 3 and Model Y vehicles are currently available for sale.

For Tesla owners who get deliveries from September 16 to September 30, they can receive a subsidy of RMB 8,000 if they choose to purchase insurance in a Tesla store.
