Zeekr, the premium EV brand under Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175), saw its deliveries hit a record high in May, indicating that the brand maintains strong sales momentum in China's highly competitive market.
The brand delivered a total of 34,377 new vehicles in May, up 81.81% from a year earlier and 8.15% from the previous month, according to data released on Monday.
The strong May performance pushed Zeekr's total deliveries for the first five months of the year to 143,201 units, a year-on-year increase of 93.42%.
The brand's average transaction price per vehicle jumped 52.4% year-on-year, primarily driven by the strong performance of its high-end product matrix, according to the company.
Higher-priced Zeekr 9 and 8 series models accounted for nearly 50% of total deliveries in May, with these premium models becoming new growth engines for the brand's profits and sales.
Cumulative deliveries of the Zeekr 9X large hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle) have surpassed 60,000 units, with the model's average transaction price exceeding 530,000 yuan ($78,310), Zeekr said today.
In China's market segment priced above 500,000 yuan, one out of every three vehicles sold is a Zeekr 9X, Zeekr said, reiterating that the model is expected to officially enter overseas markets in the third quarter of this year.
The Zeekr 8X model achieved 5,757 deliveries in May. Among them, the version equipped with the Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) H7 advanced driver assistance system has begun its first batch of deliveries.
The higher-trim Zeekr 8X equipped with the G-ASD H9 smart driving system is scheduled to officially begin deliveries in July this year, according to Zeekr.
Cumulative global deliveries of the Zeekr 7X SUV have exceeded 160,000 units. The model has topped sales charts in its segment in Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, and Mexico, Zeekr said.
In addition, Zeekr's SUV lineup, including the Zeekr 001 and 007 GT, continues to be well-received. In May, firm orders for Zeekr SUV models once again exceeded 10,000 units.
Zeekr has also recently consolidated its market position by launching new models. The brand introduced a refreshed version of the Zeekr 009 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in mid-May, with a starting price of 413,800 yuan.
Prior to this, Zeekr released a limited fifth-anniversary edition of the 001, priced at 365,000 yuan. The intensive roll-out of these new products has provided a solid foundation for Zeekr's continued growth.
