Tesla Model Y

The two-motor, all-wheel drive, Long Range version of the Tesla Model Y has increased its NEDC range from 594 kilometers to 640 kilometers.

The starting price of the Model Y Performance in China has been raised by RMB 10,000 ($1,550) to RMB 387,900, and those who have previously reserved unaffected.

The information shows that the owner can shorten the vehicle's 0-100 km/h acceleration time from 5 seconds to 4.4 seconds by paying RMB 14,100 ($2,190).

The first Model Y Standard Range models were delivered to customers in Beijing on August 26, a month and a half after the model opened for pre-orders on July 8.

Tesla was able to achieve that production because its Model Y line at the Shanghai Gigafactory was shut down for four days last week, paving the way for an upgrade at the plant.

The MIIT released the forty-fifth batch of new energy vehicle models exempted from vehicle purchase tax, and the long-range version of Tesla Model Y is listed, with an NEDC range of 640 km.

Media reports that BYD will supply "blade battery" to Tesla are true, and the first model could be the Model Y, Chinese technology website mydrivers.com said Friday, citing an unnamed BYD insider.

The first day of the Model Y standard range version's launch saw more than 10,000 orders, and the second day more than 5,000, local media quoted a Tesla salesperson as saying.

As every price cut it has made in China in the past, the lower-priced Model Y is sending a flood of orders to Tesla.

Tesla's China website today launched the lower-priced Model Y Standard Range version, which is available for pre-order immediately, with deliveries expected to begin in August.
