Tesla's Shanghai plant produced 33,544 vehicles in May, with 22,340 of those vehicles being exported.

Expected delivery dates for both versions of the Tesla Model 3 in China have been reduced by four weeks, while the Model Y Long Range has been extended by four weeks.

Tesla Model Y sales in China were 960 units in April, down 98 percent from 39,730 units in March.

In China's premium SUV market, Model Y sales of 39,730 units in March were 3.1 times the sales of the Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The entry-level Model Y, which was left out of the price hike two days ago, is now seeing a price increase as well.

The Model Y trailed the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in China in January, but sold about twice as many units as each of them in February.

The vast majority of Tesla Model Y vehicles for sale on multiple online used car trading platforms in China are priced above RMB 300,000 ($47,000).

Tesla will carry out software upgrades for the vehicles in the recall through OTA, so that users can complete the recall without visiting a store.

The Model Y sold 16,358 units in China in January, second only to BYD Song's 20,722 units.

The Model Y was also the top-selling premium SUV in December and for all of 2021 in the sales rankings that include fuel vehicles.
