Electric cars produced at Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory have begun to be exported to other regions, sending 8,210 Model Ys to Europe in July.

Six months ago Tesla was rumored to be launching a Model 2 in China with a price tag as low as RMB 160,000 ($25,000), though this was denied by the company. Recently such rumors have resurfaced, raising high concerns in China's new energy vehicle industry.

The Model 3 fell to sixth on the list of China's top new energy vehicle sales in July, and was the only model on the list to see a year-over-year sales decline.

BYD has never told the media that it will supply "blade batteries" to Tesla, nor has it said that the "blade batteries" will be used in the Model Y, ifeng.com quoted the company as saying on Wednesday.

The MIIT released the forty-fifth batch of new energy vehicle models exempted from vehicle purchase tax, and the long-range version of Tesla Model Y is listed, with an NEDC range of 640 km.

Tesla delivered 8,621 locally made vehicles in China in July, down 69 percent from June, according to data released Tuesday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

In June, global new energy passenger vehicle sales reached 583,500 units, up 153 percent year-over-year. Among them, sales of pure electric vehicles were 407,000 units, a 154 percent jump year-over-year.

Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has reached an annual production capacity of 450,000, Tencent News said Monday, citing media sources invited to a recent tour of the plant, adding that this means Tesla could be one step closer to exceeding its 2020 guidance.

Media reports that BYD will supply "blade battery" to Tesla are true, and the first model could be the Model Y, Chinese technology website mydrivers.com said Friday, citing an unnamed BYD insider.
