In a month where Tesla's image in China was severely tarnished, the company's sales here remained high, despite a decline from March.

Wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles stood at 184,000 units in April, down 8.7 percent from March and up 214.2 percent year-on-year.

Geely's sales of all cars in April were 100,331 units, down 5 percent from a year ago and up 0.3 percent from March.

The price range of the Hongguang Mini EV is RMB 28,800-38,800, almost one-tenth of the China-made Tesla Model 3.
