- Nio's battery swap system will further expand its long-range battery pack inventory based on user demand, the company said.
- Onvo's 6,000th new battery pack has been put into service, with the battery doubling plan 75 percent complete.

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866) will expand its main brand's available battery packs in the swap network this month, following similar moves by its sub-brand Onvo.
In January, the Nio brand will add over 4,200 long-range battery packs to its swap system, the company said today in a Chinese announcement detailing December delivery figures.
This will include 1,200 100-kWh battery packs and over 3,000 102-kWh battery packs.
Nio's battery swap system will further replenish long-range battery packs based on user demand, the company said.
The 100-kWh battery pack is used in Nio's older models, while the 102-kWh battery pack powers its newer vehicles.
Nio delivered 48,135 vehicles in December, surpassing its previous record of 40,397 units in October to set a new high, according to data released today.
This was primarily driven by strong performance of the third-generation ES8, propelling Nio brand deliveries to a record 31,897 units in December -- marking its first time exceeding the 30,000-unit mark.
On December 5, Onvo announced its battery pack doubling initiative, stating the brand would deploy over 8,000 new battery packs, with completion expected by mid-January 2026.
On December 15, Onvo updated progress on the initiative, reporting over 2,600 additional battery packs deployed since the doubling plan began.
Earlier today, Onvo announced the 6,000th new battery pack has entered service, bringing the battery doubling initiative to 75 percent completion.
Both the Nio main brand and Onvo have faced battery shortages in recent months due to strong sales of the third-generation ES8 and Onvo L90 large electric SUVs.
During the initial launch of these two models, Nio Inc prioritized battery pack allocation for vehicle production over deployment to battery swap stations.
Nio currently operates 3,677 battery swap stations in China, the vast majority of which are accessible to Onvo.
Part of the reason for adding battery packs to these facilities may be to prepare for the Chinese New Year holiday from February 15 to February 23.
