Nio Inc's sub-brand Onvo announced today that the 2026 Onvo L90 electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) has started shipping to its stores across China.
The first batch of showroom and test-drive cars will arrive at stores nationwide on April 21, when the updated model will also be officially launched, Onvo said.
The updated Onvo L90 will receive updates to its smart driving hardware and software systems to further align with the main Nio brand's strategy.
The 2026 Onvo L90 will be equipped with Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 smart driving chip for the first time, to gradually replace the previously used Nvidia products.
The Shenji NX9031 is the industry's first smart driving chip manufactured using a 5-nanometer automotive-grade process, with cumulative shipments exceeding 200,000 units since entering production, and is used in all current Nio brand models.
The updated Onvo L90 will also feature the latest version of the Nio World Model (NWM) for the first time, which is China's first embodied driving model for smart driving, Onvo said earlier this month.
In terms of hardware configuration, the new vehicle introduces the LiDAR sensor for the first time and adds a watchtower-style LiDAR layout to achieve better smart driving capabilities.
In addition, the vehicle's exterior rearview mirrors integrate small blue indicator lights for smart driving assistance, and it is equipped with new 21-inch multi-spoke black-and-silver contrasting wheels.
To attract consumers in a fiercely competitive market, the 2026 L90 has newly introduced two two-tone body color options: purple-gold and silver-purple.
The currently available Onvo L90 has a starting price of 265,800 yuan ($39,000), going up to 299,800 yuan.
Onvo's head of product previously said that due to rising prices of components such as high-performance memory, the cost of the updated L90 has increased by about 10,000 yuan.
The launch of this key updated model comes as Onvo attempts to maintain sales momentum in China's hyper-competitive mass-market EV segment.
In March, the Onvo brand delivered a total of 6,877 new cars, of which the large L90 SUV contributed 3,360 deliveries.
