- Onvo's upcoming L80 five-seat SUV will offer both LiDAR and pure vision options, mirroring the strategy used on the L90.
- The technology launch event for the Onvo L80 is scheduled for April 28, with high-end trims featuring Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 chip.

Nio Inc's sub-brand Onvo will offer both LiDAR and pure vision versions for its upcoming L80 five-seat sport utility vehicle (SUV), continuing the strategy seen on the updated L90.
Onvo announced the strategy on Monday, saying that the LiDAR version of the L80 will be equipped with Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 driver assistance system chip and the Nio World Model (NWM) assisted driving system.
The pure vision version of the large five-seat SUV will be powered by Nvidia's Orin X chip.
The product and technology launch event for the Onvo L80 is scheduled for April 28, starting at 7:30 pm Beijing time.
The technological path Onvo has taken with the L80 is consistent with its approach to the three-row L90 SUV.
On the newly launched 2026 Onvo L90, the base Pro trim continues to use a pure vision smart driving solution powered by Nvidia's Orin X chip, just like its predecessor.
The higher-end Max+ and Ultra+ trims, however, are both equipped with Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 chip and utilize the NWM smart driving system.
The Shenji NX9031 is the industry's first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) chip manufactured using a 5-nanometer automotive-grade process, Onvo reiterated today.
It features over 50 billion transistors and an ultra-high memory bandwidth of 546 GB/s, specifically designed for inferencing large models, the brand said.
To date, the Shenji NX9031 chip has provided a leading and smooth smart experience for over 200,000 users, it said.
NWM is China's first world model oriented towards smart driving, featuring long-term sequential deduction and decision-making capabilities.
Nio Inc rolled out its new NWM assisted driving software to users of its main Nio brand in late January, bringing a significantly optimized smart driving experience.
In the single month of February, Nio saw the mileage driven using smart assisted driving surpass 200 million kilometers, a massive 81.5% increase compared to January.
With NWM being integrated into the Onvo L80, the pure vision version will also receive a major software update for assisted driving later this year, Onvo said.
Nio Inc is relying on an intensive schedule of new product launches to counter industry headwinds and maintain steady delivery growth.
The Onvo L80 offers up to 2,840 liters of total storage space, claiming to be the five-seat SUV with the largest loading capacity in China, Onvo said yesterday.
The brand just launched the 2026 L90 on April 21, keeping its starting price, including the battery pack, unchanged at 265,800 yuan ($38,940).
