Nio Inc's sub-brand Onvo officially launched the 2026 L90 electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) today, updating its most important model.

Despite the pressure of rising component costs, the starting price of the updated model for the full vehicle including the battery pack remains unchanged at 265,800 yuan ($39,000).

If consumers choose the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental plan, the starting price of the vehicle is 179,800 yuan. Onvo said that the new car will officially begin nationwide deliveries in China on May 9.

Onvo's head of product previously revealed that due to the price increase of components such as high-performance memory, the cost of the updated L90 has increased by about 10,000 yuan.

However, to maintain sales momentum in the fiercely competitive mass EV market, Onvo chose to absorb this cost itself, keeping the pricing range consistent with the current model.

The 2026 Onvo L90 has received over 70 software and hardware upgrades. It is equipped with Nio's in-house developed 5-nanometer automotive-grade smart driving chip, the Shenji NX9031, for the first time.

This move marks Nio accelerating the penetration of its in-house developed semiconductor technology into its sub-brands, and Onvo is also gradually replacing the Nvidia chip products it previously used.

To further enhance intelligent assisted driving capabilities, the new car introduces a LiDAR sensor for the first time. It adopts a watchtower-style layout and will be sold alongside the vision-only version.

The 2026 L90 also features the latest version of the Nio World Model for the first time, which is China's first embodied driving model for smart driving.

The new car comes standard with an 85 kWh battery and adopts a 900V high-voltage architecture. It is compatible with Nio's battery swap stations, taking only 3 minutes to complete a battery replacement.

The updated L90 continues to offer six-seat and seven-seat options and introduces two new two-tone body color options: purple-gold and silver-purple, and the exterior rearview mirrors have also added a small blue indicator light for intelligent assisted driving.

To further stimulate market demand, Onvo has also launched limited-time car purchase benefits. Users who lock in their orders before May 31 can enjoy discounts with a total value of up to 58,000 yuan.

In March, the Onvo brand delivered a total of 6,877 new cars. Among them, the L90 contributed 3,360 units to the delivery volume.
