Deliveries of the Nio ET5 are expected to begin in September, and the Xpeng G9 will be officially launched in September.

This is in part driven by the recognition that the premium market should be more lucrative and less competitive over the next few years, according to Edison Yu's team.

Xpeng G9 will be the best SUV within RMB 500,000 ($74,550), said the company's chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng.

Nio will offer a retractable electric tow hook option for the ET5, according to the latest regulatory filing.

Xpeng had planned to unveil details of its new SUV, the G9, at the Beijing auto show in late April, but that show has been postponed.

Xpeng will start small deliveries of the G9 at the end of August at the earliest, while large deliveries will start in September and reach 5,000 units in October, according to local media.

Battery maker Sunwoda will be the main supplier in one version of Xpeng's flagship SUV, the G9, with a share of more than 50 percent, according to local media.

The photos show a different instrument screen and center screen setup than all three of Xpeng's existing models.

Xpeng says the G9 is China's first production vehicle based on the 800V high-voltage SiC platform and can get a 200km range on a 5-minute charge.

Photos of the Xpeng G9 have already appeared in the Xpeng app before the model was officially unveiled.
