A Tesla vehicle spontaneously combusted in an underground garage in a residential area of central Guangzhou around 14:00 on August 22, affecting a BMW sedan parked next to it.

The accident had nothing to do with the Tesla-branded vehicle itself, and police identified that the driver was fully responsible.

Tesla vehicles have been in the news for accidents in China recently, amid unresolved complaints from a female owner about faulty brakes.
