It's worth noting that BYD Han includes the all-electric Han EV as well as the hybrid Han DM, and the sales figures include both models.

Mr. Li complained that his long-range Han EV could only actually travel up to 230 kilometers on a full charge. By comparison, BYD officially claims a range of 605 kilometers.

The Han EV, launched in July this year, is the first vehicle to be equipped with a blade battery, which offers a level of safety not possible with conventional ternary lithium batteries.

BYD uses self-developed core technologies to make products with better performance and higher cost performance, the analysts say.
