The initial order will include the BYD Atto 3, which will be available under the so-called Salary Sacrifice program.

The BYD Atto 3 will start at £36,490 ($43,230) in the UK and deliveries there will begin on March 15.

BYD could build up to two passenger car plants in Europe, an executive said, also confirming that the company is buying its own ships to export cars.

Nobina has more than 300 BYD all-electric buses in its fleet, or on order, operating in towns and cities in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

BYD arrived in Europe with three all-electric passenger cars -- the Atto 3, Tang and Han -- and presented them at the Paris Motor Show.

The partnership began with SIXT's initial order for thousands of BYD's all-electric vehicles, with first deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2022.

BYD has announced the pre-sale prices for the Atto 3, Han, and Tang in Europe, where they will be delivered starting this year in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany.

BYD is expected to launch models in Europe including the Tang, Han, and the Yuan Plus, which will be locally named the Atto 3.

Several offline BYD dealership stores in Europe will open in the fall, and the first vehicles are expected to be delivered starting in the fourth quarter, BYD said.

The Model Y is powered by BYD batteries with a capacity of 55-kilowatt hours and a range of 440 kilometers, according to a German media report.
