Huawei will start selling the second model, the Seres SF7 from Chongqing Sokon, in the second half of the year, possibly as early as August, the WeChat account iAUTO2010 reported Monday.

Beijing-based TikTok owner ByteDance's car information and service platform Dongchedi is about to launch its first offline experience store in July, with the site located in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing.

"It's like a company providing us with a complete solution so that it becomes the soul and SAIC becomes the body. Such a result is unacceptable to SAIC, and we want to take the soul into our own hands."

Chongqing Sokon, which has seen huge demand for its models following its partnership with Huawei, is now getting more capital to support its further growth.

Germany is the most important market for Huawei's ICT business, and if Huawei builds a car, it will bring direct competition.

Huawei, which insists on not being directly involved in building cars, has a growing number of partners in the sector.

Design work is said to have already begun on a 7-seat Porsche SUV customized by Huawei, and the car will be built by Porsche with a full set of Huawei solutions.
