BYD's (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium brand Denza will officially launch the large six-seat SUV (sport utility vehicle) N8L in the second quarter of next year, according to a report by local media outlet Yiche today.

The N8L will target the luxury SUV market alongside the Denza N9, the report said.

The N8L is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model that entered China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing catalog in May, revealing its core specifications.

Its length, width, and height are 5,200 mm, 1,999 mm, and 1,820/1,990 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm, according to its filing information.

The Denza N8L is powered by BYD's e3 technology, which can be seen as a scaled-down version of BYD's e4 technology designed for ultra-luxury vehicles, offering tri-motor independent drive and rear-wheel steering functionality.

The front motor of the Denza N8L has a peak power output of 200 kW, while the two rear motors each have a peak power output of 180 kW. Its engine displacement is 1,995 ml, with a power output of 152 kW.

The N8L can be seen as a slightly scaled-down version of the N9 flagship SUV launched by Denza in March. The N9 measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

The Denza N9 is also equipped with BYD's e3 technology, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The Denza N9 is available in two variants, with starting prices of RMB 389,800 ($54,420) and RMB 449,800 in China.

Denza had launched an SUV called the N8 in August 2023, but the hybrid SUV has since been discontinued. The exterior design of the N8L is significantly different from that of the N8.

The Denza brand sold 15,783 units in June, up 28.58 percent year-on-year, but down 0.15 percent from May.

Denza's June sales included 9,848 units of the D9 MPV, 1,018 units of the Z9 series, 4,668 units of the N9, and 249 units of the N7.

Denza saw the 10,000th N9 roll off the production line today, two months after the large luxury SUV was launched.
