Chinese battery giant CATL ranked No. 1 in the global power battery market with a 29.9 percent market share in the first half of the year, according to SNE Research.

If CALB loses the lawsuit, its entire product line could be banned.

In June, CATL had the highest installed capacity of 5.44 GWh, with a market share of 49.1 percent.

CATL's battery installations from January to May reached 27.6 GWh, with a global market share of 31.2 percent, 9.8 percentage points higher than the 22 percent of the same period last year, the data shows.

The rapid growth of China's electric vehicle industry has created a huge demand for power batteries, and manufacturers are accelerating their production expansion.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries were installed at 4.5GWh, with a market share of 46 percent, up 458.6 percent year-on-year and 40.9 percent from April.

CALB, the fourth-largest power battery maker in China, plans to make an initial public offering (IPO) next year, jiemian.com reported Monday, without giving further details.

CATL's sales almost quadrupled to 21.4 GWh, further cementing the company's position as the world's largest maker of batteries for electric vehicles.

CATL remained in the first place, with an installed base of 3.82 GWh in April and a market share of 45.5 percent. Notably, this is the first time CATL's market share has fallen below 50 percent this year.

LG Chem's installed capacity was 26.4 GWh, up 1.4 times year-on-year, ranking second in the world. Panasonic's installed capacity was 22.3GWh, down 8.5% year-on-year, ranking third.
