Mystery box or blind box is a popular species among young Chinese consumers in recent years, even creating Pop Mart, a Hong Kong-listed company with a market capitalization of HK$102.3 billion ($13 billion).

Nio announced Thursday the launch of its battery swap station at the Luoyang service area on China's G30 Lianyungang-Horgos Highway, its first second-generation battery swap station in a highway service area, marking the start of construction of the facility along the expressway.

The company plans to build about 313 new battery swap stations for passenger cars and 175 battery swap stations for heavy trucks in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong.

Nio will have to build 250 battery swap stations in the remaining 205 days of the year to meet its target, an average of one every 0.8 days.

The company's business scope includes research and development of online energy metering technology, emerging energy technologies, and the sales of charging piles and battery swap facilities for new energy vehicles.
