Geely Auto's premium brand Zeekr is advancing the overseas roll-out of its flagship Zeekr 9X sport utility vehicle (SUV) and has unveiled specific plans.
The Zeekr 9X large hybrid SUV will first be exported to the Middle East market in June, with plans to enter Central Asia in the third quarter, Geely Auto Group CEO Jerry Gan said at an earnings briefing on Wednesday.
By the fourth quarter, the Zeekr 9X will enter the European market, Gan said.
He also noted that another hybrid model, the Zeekr 8X, will enter overseas markets in the fourth quarter.
The Zeekr 9X was officially launched in September 2025 in China, with a starting price of 465,900 yuan ($68,180).
It is the Zeekr brand's first hybrid model, designed to further expand into the lucrative luxury vehicle market.
The Zeekr 8X, launched earlier this month, is Zeekr's second hybrid model, featuring a limited-time starting price of 329,800 yuan.
Zeekr is accelerating the development of the global versions of the 9X and 8X, expecting to introduce them to overseas markets as early as the third quarter, Gan said earlier this month.
First-quarter deliveries of the Zeekr 9X reached 22,000 units, making a significant contribution to Geely's financial performance.
On April 23, cumulative deliveries of the Zeekr 9X surpassed 50,000 units. Zeekr said at the time that the model's average transaction price reached 530,000 yuan.
Geely's first-quarter revenue stood at 83.78 billion yuan, up 15% year-on-year. Weighed down by foreign exchange fluctuations, its profit attributable to shareholders fell 27% to 4.17 billion yuan.
Excluding one-off factors such as exchange rate fluctuations and impairment of non-financial assets, Geely's core profit attributable to shareholders reached 4.56 billion yuan, achieving a 31% year-on-year growth.
Overseas export business has become a core driver of Geely's profit growth. The company's overseas sales in the first quarter reached 203,024 units, surging more than 100% year-on-year.
According to the company's previous plans, Geely targets a full-year export volume of 640,000 units in 2026, aiming to challenge the 750,000-unit mark.
Based on the stellar performance in overseas markets in the first quarter, Gan said Geely is confident in achieving the full-year export target of 750,000 units.
Geely plans to build three 200,000-unit-scale markets encompassing Latin America/Africa, ASEAN, and Europe, as well as two 150,000-unit-scale markets in Eastern Europe and the Middle East/Asia-Pacific, he said.
