Tesla said its factories have been below full capacity for several quarters, a situation that could continue further throughout 2022 as the supply chain becomes the main limiting factor.

So far, Tesla has opened 22 Supercharger stations in Anhui province.

CATL's current facility near Tesla's Giga Shanghai is primarily being used to assemble battery modules, while a new facility is under construction, according to local media.

Recent rumors suggest that the new car will go into production at Giga Shanghai, will be powered by BYD's blade battery and will begin road test by the end of 2022.

Tesla is offering a limited edition of 3,000 charging packages priced at about $67, allowing users unlimited use between January 26 and February 8 in China.

To date, Tesla has opened more than 1,000 Supercharger stations in the Chinese mainland, offering more than 8,000 piles.

The Model Y was also the top-selling premium SUV in December and for all of 2021 in the sales rankings that include fuel vehicles.

Tesla delivered about 321,000 vehicles in China in 2021, with Model Y at 200,100 vehicles, or 62.3 percent of the total.

Tesla China exported 245 units in December, meaning it sold 70,602 units in China.

The plant is in the capacity ramp-up phase and is already at approximately 60 percent of its design capacity.
