Tesla Model S

The vehicles are supposed to be produced at Tesla's Fremont plant in the US and will probably be used for testing and validation in China, according to a prominent auto blogger.

A Chinese user shared information that he received an email from Tesla stating that his Model S Plaid reservation order received an update.

The Model S Plaid is priced at RMB 1,059,990 ($166,000) in China, about 4.2 times the price of the entry-level China-made Model 3.

The last price change for both models was on August 4, when Tesla also raised them both by RMB 30,000.

Nio's ET7 has a drag coefficient of 0.208, the same as that of the Model S Plaid, which Tesla calls is the "lowest-drag car on Earth."

After it raised the prices of the Model S Long Range and Model X Long Range in China and the United States last month, Tesla has raised their prices again.

Information on Tesla China's official website shows that the prices of the Model S Long Range and Model X Long Range have increased by 30,000 RMB ($4640) each.

Tesla has set the Model S Plaid at a starting price of RMB 999,990, ($154,600), down RMB 174,910 ($27,044) from the previous price, Tesla China website showed.

Emptying the inventory is relatively not too difficult as Tesla has not produced new Model S and Model X vehicles for almost a month due to the production line shutdown of its flagship model and SUV.

Shortly after taking reservations on the North American website, the Tesla Model S Plaid started taking reservations in China, with the same expected delivery date of late 2021.
