China's retail sales of NEVs were a record 1.015 million units in August, with penetration rising to a record 53.14 percent, preliminary CPCA data showed.

China's wholesale sales of passenger NEVs are expected to come in at 1.05 million units in August, which would be the first time this year that they have exceeded 1 million units.

Tesla China sold 86,697 vehicles in August, including those sold in China and those exported to overseas markets, up 16.97 percent from July and up 3.02 percent year-on-year.

The Song and Qin families remain the best-selling BYD models, both selling more than 70,000 units in August.

BYD sold 148,470 passenger BEVs in August, up 1.95 percent year-on-year. It sold 222,384 PHEVs, the sixth consecutive record high since March, up 73.12 percent year-on-year.

Nio delivered 20,176 vehicles in August, the fourth consecutive month above the 20,000 mark. That's up 4.38 percent year-on-year, though down 1.57 percent from July.

Xpeng delivered 14,036 vehicles in August, up 26 percent from 11,145 in July, marking the sixth consecutive month of sequential growth.

In the January-August period, Zeekr delivered 121,540 vehicles, up 81.47 percent year-on-year.

Leapmotor delivered 30,305 vehicles in August, surpassing the 30,000 mark for the first time. Its new model C16 delivered more than 8,000 units in August.

Xiaomi said deliveries of the SU7 exceeded 10,000 units in August, marking the third consecutive month over the 10,000 mark, without mentioning a specific number.
