CATL's share of China's EV battery market increased in August, as it gained additional share in the BYD-dominated LFP market.

CATL's share of the global EV battery market in Jan-July declined slightly from Jan-June, while BYD increased.

Xiaomi originally chose CATL as a tier 1 battery supplier for its EV unit, but has reworked its strategy to reduce costs.

In the LFP battery market, BYD topped the list with a 43.18 percent share in July, up from 39.61 percent in June, with an installed base of 9.35 GWh.

CATL's global share increased in January-June from January-May, while BYD's decreased slightly.

In June, Xpeng loaded more than 4,000 vehicles with CALB battery packs, or 70 percent of its production for the month.

BYD topped the LFP battery market with a 39.61 percent share, but lower than its 45.30 percent share in May.

CATL's battery installed base grew 59.6 percent year-on-year in January-May, while BYD's grew 107.8 percent year-on-year, according to SNE Research.

CATL remains the largest power battery maker in China, but BYD's lead in the LFP market expanded in May.

In January-April, CALB's power battery installations of 8.4 GWh surpassed Samsung SDI's 7.5 GWh, according to SNE Research.
