Yangwang today made its U8 officially available in China, with a starting price of RMB 1.098 million as in pre-sale.

The Dolphin is the second BYD EV offered in Japan after the Atto 3, with a starting price of around $24,570.

The site, operated by a joint venture between Shell and BYD, offers 258 fast-charging terminals.

At the current rate of consumption, coal will only last for 200 more years and oil for 50 more years, said BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu.

In August, BYD sold 25,023 NEVs in overseas markets, up 37.72 percent from 18,169 in July.

Global markets are now flooded with cheaper Chinese EVs and their price is kept artificially low by huge state subsidies, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.

Fang Cheng Bao started accepting reservations for the Bao 5 late last month, with a price range of RMB 300,000-RMB 400,000.

Denza's head of sales previously hinted that the D9 will be priced at RMB 600,000 - RMB 1 million in Hong Kong.

Yangwang began pre-sales of the U8 on the first day of the Shanghai auto show on April 18, with a pre-sale price of RMB 1.098 million.

In the January-August period, BYD ranked first in China's NEV market with a 36.6 percent share, while Tesla came in second with 8.8 percent.
