's (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium brand Yangwang will officially launch its first production vehicle, the U8, later this month, after it began pre-sales at the Shanghai auto show in April.

The launch of the Yangwang U8 will take place on September 20, the brand announced today on Weibo.

The SUV features an innovative sealed design that will deliver NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) performance that exceeds that of its class, Yangwang said.

Yangwang didn't provide any further information on the U8's launch, which is slightly later than previously planned, as the brand said in June that it expected the model to be launched in August and deliveries to begin in September.

BYD officially unveiled the Yangwang brand on January 5 and gave the Yangwang U8 and Yangwang U9, both of which will feature e⁴ technology, a debut.

e⁴ is China's first mass-produced quad-motor independent drive technology platform, capable of realizing precise control of vehicle dynamics on all four wheels thanks to four-motor independent vector control technology, BYD said at the time.

Yangwang began pre-sales of the U8 on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show, with a pre-sale price of RMB 1.098 million ($150,000).

The car will be offered in two versions -- the Premium Edition and the Off-road Master Edition. Their pre-sale prices are the same, with the difference being that the former is more richly equipped, while the latter has more room for modification.

The Yangwang U8 has a maximum output of over 1,100 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.6 seconds, and has a CLTC pure electric range of 180 kilometers, according to information previously announced by Yangwang.

The car supports fast charging, taking 18 minutes to go from 30 percent recharge to 80 percent. It is equipped with an external discharge function with a maximum discharge power of 6 kW.

The model measures 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width and 1,930 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.
