Huawei's Richard Yu says extended-range technology is the most appropriate solution available right now; Great Wall Motor's Wey brand CEO executive disagrees.

The AITO M7 will be open for test drives on July 23, with deliveries to begin in August.

The AITO M7 features extended-range technology similar to that used by Li Auto in its models, and its specifications and prices mean it will compete directly with the Li ONE.

AITO's only current model, the Wenjie M5, saw 10,685 new orders in June, it said.

The AITO Wenjie M7 is expected to be unveiled at Huawei's new product launch on July 4. Previously a Huawei executive said that deliveries are expected to begin at the end of July.

Huawei is building at least two models jointly with Chery and at least one model with JAC, local media reports said.

Since deliveries began in March, the cumulative number of AITO Wenjie M5 deliveries has reached 11,296 units.

The AITO Wenjie M7 is a large six-seater SUV that will begin deliveries at the end of July.
