The two companies have agreed to engage in a comprehensive strategic partnership from 2025-2034, with Neta making CATL its preferred partner for vehicle power batteries.

CATL's efforts to expand overseas markets are now being personally led by its chairman, and the company will add two additional overseas plants to the six it has previously disclosed, according to local media.

CATL's share in April decreased by 0.22 percentage points from March, while BYD's increased by 1.58 percentage points.

In a recent wide-ranging interview with CnEVPost, a CATL spokesperson talked about the company's overseas partnership model and its layout for new technologies.

CATL aims to produce all-solid-state batteries in small batches by 2027, but high-volume production will still face challenges including cost, an executive said.

Volvo will recycle retired batteries from its vehicles, leaving them to suppliers to dismantle and extract the metal materials, and CATL will use the recycled materials to produce new batteries that will be used in the production of new Volvo vehicles.

CATL reported revenue of RMB 79.77 billion in the first quarter, a new low since the second quarter of 2022.

CATL's share in March decreased by 10.29 percentage points from February, while BYD increased by 9.04 percentage points.

CATL's energy storage battery business generated revenue of RMB 59.9 billion in 2023, contributing 14.94 percent of the total.
