- Xpeng delivered 31,011 vehicles in April, with its year-on-year decline narrowing and marking a 13% month-on-month increase.
- The company is seeking to boost future sales and profit margins by launching its new flagship GX SUV and upgrading its smart driving technology.
Xpeng's vehicle deliveries fell for a fourth consecutive month in April from a year earlier, but the narrowing decline suggests its sales momentum may be stabilizing.
The Chinese EV maker delivered 31,011 vehicles in April, according to figures released Friday. This represents an 11.51% drop from a year ago, but a 13.12% increase from March.
For the January-April period, Xpeng delivered a total of 93,693 vehicles, down 27.40% from the same period last year.
Smart driving technology is emerging as a key driver of Xpeng's sales growth. The company officially rolled out its second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA 2.0) autonomous driving solution in March.
The technology has significantly boosted test-drive satisfaction rates at retail stores, with the average time customers take to make a purchase decision after a test drive dropping 44.7% month-on-month, Xpeng said today.
To further revive sales and improve profit margins, Xpeng is doubling down on the premium market. The company began pre-sales of its flagship GX SUV on April 15.
The new model, with pre-sales starting at 399,800 yuan ($58,550), offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain options.
Meanwhile, mass-market models remain Xpeng's primary sales driver. Cumulative deliveries of its best-selling affordable electric sedan Mona M03 surpassed the 250,000-unit mark on April 13. Xpeng did not disclose the model's specific delivery figures for April.
Xpeng launched the 2026 Mona M03 on April 2, keeping its starting price unchanged at 119,800 yuan.
It has also filed for a new compact SUV model, the L03, to expand the Mona lineup. The vehicle is expected to be a key catalyst for Xpeng's future sales growth.
Xpeng is also deepening its manufacturing footprint in Europe. On April 7, the first locally produced P7+ rolled off the production line at its partner Magna's plant in Austria.
This marks the third model to be locally manufactured in Austria, following the G6 and G9, reflecting the company's determination to expand in overseas markets amid fierce competition.
