The Firefly project was set up with a view to the global markets, not just a single market, Firefly president said.

Firefly's first model will use Nio's demonstration battery swap stations and will access Nio's fifth-generation stations in the future, the brand's president said.

The overall design of Nio Firefly's interior is close to that of Nio-branded models and uses a horizontal center screen.

Firefly's first model will be built at Nio's F2 plant, and the battery supplier is Sunwoda, marking the first time the battery maker has been among Nio's suppliers.

Firefly's mobile app has seen cumulative user registrations reach six figures 72 hours after it went live, with a significant increase in the percentage of new users from outside the Nio community.

Deutsche Bank analysts expect monthly sales of the Nio ET9 to be 1,500 units, saying they appreciate the sedan's elegant design and advanced technologies. They expect Firefly's monthly sales to be 1,500 units as well.

The Firefly brand will rely on local partner outlets for sales in Europe, with construction costs for dedicated swap stations one-third those of Nio.

The first Firefly model made its global debut and began pre-sales in China at RMB 148,800 yuan ($20,390), the same as the discounted electric Mini Cooper.
