With 57,940 units sold in August, the Song family continues to rank as the top-selling BYD model, up 36.33 percent year-on-year and up 13.04 percent from July.

The Song family sold 51,258 units in July, overtaking the Qin family and regaining its position as the best-selling BYD model.

Since March, the Qin family has been the top-selling BYD model in monthly sales.

From January to May, the Qin family models sold 171,534 units and the Song family sold 216,625 units.

BYD has offered some discounts on the Seal, Song Plus, Yuan Plus and Dolphin in the price war in the Chinese auto industry over the past two months.

The Qin family of models sold a record 40,850 units in March, surpassing the Song family's 40,510 units to become the best-selling BYD model for the month.

With a starting price range of RMB 99,800 ($14,650) to RMB 145,800, the Qin Plus DM-i 2023 is the first time BYD has made a model with its DM-i powertrain starting at less than RMB 100,000.
