Nio and GAC will work together to establish a unified battery standard and jointly develop battery swap-enabled passenger cars and battery swap stations compatible with models from both brands.

On average, each Nio user made four battery swaps in April, each lasting about three minutes.

Nio's pace of building battery swap stations was slow at the start of the year, possibly waiting for fourth-generation station capacity to ramp up. It's aiming to end the year with a total of more than 3,310 stations.

Nio said it has reached 307,783 total smart driving users and 193,174 NOP+ users.

Zhongan and Nio Power will jointly promote the construction of 1,000 battery swap stations, creating an open energy network and a battery asset management and operation system, Nio said.

As of the end of February, Nio had 587 battery swap stations and more than 27,000 charging piles participating in grid load regulation in 14 provinces and cities.

The service barely affects battery swap stations' ability to provide service to car owners, with one station bringing in revenue in the tens of thousands of euros a year, according to a Nio vice president.

Nio's battery swap stations provided a total of 871,477 services from February 8-18, with a peak of 90,199 services in a single day.

The JV will cater to the ride-hailing market and provide battery swap services for NEVs, CATL said.

Between February 8 and February 18, Nio owners who use battery swap stations along China's highways will be exempt from service fees but will have to pay for electricity.
