The remarks by Nio's president mean that monthly sales of the Nio ET5 are expected to reach at least 15,000 units within a year.

Nio is showing its full range of vehicles at the Chengdu auto show, including the ET5. It also brought a battery swap station with a transparent bottom.

The Nio ET5 will have up to nine body color options, with pink and yellow being exclusive to the model.

The ES7, the first SUV based on Nio's second-generation NT 2.0 platform, will start deliveries across China on August 28.

Nio's previously mentioned 800V high-voltage battery is the 4680-type battery, which is planned to be equipped into Nio's third-generation platform NT 3.0, according to local media.

Earlier this month, a company originally formed by Changan and Nio announced the completion of a new round of financing that reduced Nio's stake to less than 1 percent.

Trailers transporting the Nio ET7 have been seen driving on the roads in the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway.

Nio previously said that ET5 deliveries would begin in September 2022, but the expected first delivery date was announced.
