Tomb Sweeping Day

April 4 - April 6

The 2024 Tomb Sweeping Day, or Qingming Festival, holiday is April 4, and the holiday runs from April 4-6, for three days.

As part of the holiday schedule, April 7 is a weekday, albeit a Sunday.

Tomb Sweeping Day is the fifth of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese Lunar Calendar and usually falls on April 4 or 5 every year.

On Tomb Sweeping Day, people in China will sweep the tombs of their ancestors and pay homage, through which they express their remembrance of their ancestors.

People will clean up the graves, offer flowers, food and other offerings, and burn paper money as a way to send their thoughts and blessings.

At the same time, Tomb Sweeping Day is also an important point for agricultural activities in spring.

In traditional Chinese agricultural society, Tomb Sweeping Day is a day that marks the beginning of spring plowing, when people start busy farming activities to lay the foundation for the year's agricultural production.
