- The Onvo L80 starts at 242,800 yuan ($35,810) with the battery pack included, dropping to 156,800 yuan under the BaaS model.
- The L80's Max+ trim, equipped with Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 chip, emerged as the most popular configuration.

Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO), released the initial customer profile for its new L80 sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Monday, revealing that over 90% of the first batch of buyers opted for the BaaS (battery as a service) rental model to purchase the vehicle.
This purchasing model significantly lowers the barrier to entry for consumers, while providing Nio with a steady stream of monthly battery rental income.
The Onvo L80 is offered in three variants — Pro, Max+, and Ultra+ — with starting prices including the battery pack at 242,800 yuan ($35,810), 259,800 yuan, and 279,800 yuan, respectively.
By choosing the BaaS model, the starting prices for the three Onvo L80 trims drop substantially to 156,800 yuan, 173,800 yuan, and 193,800 yuan.
Currently, the Onvo L80 is only available with an 85-kWh battery pack, which carries a monthly rental fee of 899 yuan under the BaaS purchasing plan.
Detailed pricing information for Onvo L80
| Trim | Price including battery (RMB) | BaaS price | Monthly BaaS battery rental |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | 242,800 | 156,800 | 899 |
| Max+ | 259,800 | 173,800 | 899 |
| Ultra+ | 279,800 | 193,800 | 899 |
Among the three variants, 62% of buyers chose the mid-tier Max+ model. This version is equipped with LiDAR and features Nio's in-house developed Shenji NX9031 smart driving chip to support advanced driver assistance functions.
The top-tier Ultra+ version also features the Shenji NX9031 chip. Unlike the rear-wheel-drive Pro and Max+, the Ultra+ is a four-wheel-drive model capable of accelerating from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds.
The entry-level Pro version continues to use Nvidia's Orin smart driving chip to power its smart driving system.
In terms of exterior and interior choices, 58% of owners selected a black exterior, while over 70% of buyers preferred a brown interior.
The Onvo L80, a large five-seater SUV, was officially launched on May 15, aiming to further expand the Onvo brand's lineup of family vehicles in the mass market.
Nio Inc is accelerating the expansion of its power replenishment infrastructure, planning to add 1,000 battery swap stations in China this year.
These newly added swap stations will all be accessible to the Onvo brand. Onvo aims to have a total of more than 3,300 swap stations available to its users by the end of this year.
Currently, Nio has 3,862 operational battery swap stations in China, of which 1,037 are located along highways.
Analysts at Deutsche Bank projected in a research report note earlier this month that the sales trajectory of the L80 is expected to be similar to that of the L90 three-row SUV.
In the short term — following an initial production ramp-up — the Onvo L80's monthly sales are expected to reach around 10,000 units, a team led by analyst Bin Wang said in the note on Monday.
However, as more competitor products enter the market, its sales are projected to stabilize at around 4,000 units per month, the team added.
Onvo is attempting to boost its market share through intensive product launches. Between January and April of this year, the brand delivered 18,691 vehicles, a 2.55% decline from the same period last year.
Onvo launched the 2026 model year L90 on April 21, and will open pre-sales for its updated L60 SUV at the 2026 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show (Shenzhen Auto Show) later this week.
