Voyah Automotive (HKEX: 7489), the premium subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, has launched its highly anticipated Taishan X8 large five-seat sport utility vehicle (SUV), heavily equipped with technologies from Huawei.

The Voyah Taishan X8 officially went on sale in China on Friday with a starting price of 292,900 yuan ($43,110). That is 10,000 yuan, or 3.3%, lower than its pre-sales price of 302,900 yuan announced on April 22.

The Taishan X8 is offered in five variants, including three plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions priced at 292,900 yuan, 329,900 yuan, and 359,900 yuan, respectively; as well as two battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions priced at 339,900 yuan and 379,900 yuan.

The SUV measures 5,200 millimeters in length, 2,025 mm in width, and 1,814 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,090 mm. This provides a massive cabin space of 6.1 square meters, according to Voyah.

The model is equipped with Huawei's HarmonySpace cockpit system, alongside dual 15.6-inch Huawei smart in-car screens.

The entry-level Max version of the Taishan X8 PHEV features a four-wheel-drive system with a combined output of 475 kilowatts (637 hp), while the higher-end Ultra version reaches a combined system output of 490 kW.

The Taishan X8 PHEV can complete the zero to 100 kilometers per hour sprint in as little as 5.5 seconds.

The PHEV versions offer two range options, with CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) battery ranges of 245 km and 370 km. Their combined ranges on a full tank and full charge are 1,321 km and 1,506 km, respectively.

The BEV variants of the model are equipped with a 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack, providing a CLTC range of up to 727 km.

Built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and a 5C ultra-fast charging architecture, the Taishan X8 can charge from 20% to 80% in just 10 minutes.

The vehicle is equipped with four LiDARs, with the primary unit being Huawei's 896-channel image-grade LiDAR. Its smart driving system is Huawei's Qiankun ADS.

To attract early buyers in a highly competitive market, Voyah is offering a cash subsidy of up to 10,000 yuan for customers who place a deposit before June 30.

The official launch of the Taishan X8 is a crucial part of Voyah's broader business strategy to expand its premium product portfolio and boost market share in 2026.

Earlier today, the company previewed another all-new model, the Passion S, adding another highly sporty SUV to the Chinese market.

The Passion S, which bears some resemblance to the Ferrari Purosangue, will compete with the Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) YU7 and is expected to hit the market in the middle of this year.

Voyah delivered a total of 15,146 vehicles in April, up 51.17% year-on-year and 0.85% from the previous month, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

For the January-April period, the company's total deliveries reached 49,038 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 36.02%.

Stellantis will hold a 51% stake in the new joint venture and lead the sales and localized production of the Voyah brand in Europe.
