- Nio will demonstrate the suspension technology of the ES9 through a live video broadcast hours before releasing its first-quarter earnings on May 21.
- The ES9 will be officially launched on May 27, with a pre-sales starting price of 528,000 yuan.

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) will hold a live video broadcast on May 21 to detail the chassis capabilities of its upcoming ES9 SUV, with the event starting at 3 pm Beijing Time.
The Chinese EV maker announced the event on Wednesday. The broadcast aims to demonstrate the vehicle's smooth driving and riding experience under both urban and off-road conditions.
The timing of this technology showcase is notable. Later that same day, Nio will report its financial results for the first quarter of 2026.
This indicates that the company is attempting to draw further market attention to its new flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) model before releasing key financial data.
The ES9 is scheduled to be officially launched and begin deliveries on May 27. The model is viewed by Nio's management as one of the key vehicles to counter industry headwinds in the second quarter and boost sales.
Nio had already published several articles on its social media accounts earlier this month introducing the ES9's chassis.
In a recent post, the company detailed the intelligent features of the SkyRide fully active suspension equipped on the ES9.
The system can actively identify underground garage height limits and lower the vehicle body, or lift the wheels when facing speed bumps to effectively reduce vertical impact.
Under extreme road conditions, the chassis system can even help the vehicle bounce out of sand by rapidly actuating the car body.
Thanks to the body control capabilities of the SkyRide fully active suspension, the ES9 can perform large-scale transient control, greatly enhancing comfort performance in acceleration, driving, and braking, the company said.
Nio began pre-sales for the ES9 in April, with a starting price of 528,000 yuan ($77,560) including the battery pack.
The entry-level model does not include the SkyRide active suspension system, while the signature edition equipped with the system starts at 588,000 yuan.
Although the price remains expensive, the starting price of the SkyRide-equipped ES9 is 23.44% lower than that of the ET9 executive sedan, which is equipped with the same suspension system.
