Huawei-backed luxury auto brand Maextro plans to launch the Grand Design variant of the Maextro S800 in June, following the initial success of the sedan.

Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei's consumer business group, announced the plan on social media platform Weibo on Monday, sharing multiple exterior images of the Maextro S800 Grand Design.

The new vehicle features a two-tone silver and blue-green exterior design, which Yu said adopts a design philosophy that transcends the ultimate and embraces a grander vision.

The ultra-premium luxury sedan, with an estimated price of around 2 million yuan ($293,580), will be officially rolled out in late June, Yu said in a live video broadcast last month.

The model entered a regulatory catalog of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology earlier this month, revealing it will offer battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions, similar to the regular Maextro S800.

The Maextro S800 Grand Design shares the same dimensions as the regular Maextro S800, measuring 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm.

Maextro is a brand jointly created by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), falling under the umbrella of Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business.

Currently, the standard Maextro S800 has achieved significant commercial success in the Chinese market. The model saw over 1,100 insurance registrations in the single month of April, Yu said last week.

Cumulative deliveries of the luxury sedan have surpassed 17,000 units, topping the sales chart for ultra-luxury sedans priced above 700,000 yuan in China for eight consecutive months, he said on May 14.

The monthly sales volume of the Maextro S800 roughly equals the combined total of the second and third places in the segment, reflecting growing recognition of domestic premium auto brands among China's high-net-worth individuals.

In addition to the S800 Grand Design, Maextro is expanding its high-end product lineup. The brand's first multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) model, the V800, also completed its regulatory filing earlier this month.

The Maextro S800 and Aito M9 will be equipped with 896-channel LiDAR, the highest specification globally.
