Geely Auto's sub-brand Geely Galaxy officially launched the new M7 compact plug-in hybrid SUV on Tuesday, targeting budget-sensitive buyers with aggressive pricing and a long range.
The new car has a limited-time starting price of 109,800 yuan ($16,060), while its official suggested retail price ranges from 119,800 yuan to 147,800 yuan.
The core selling point of the M7 lies in its exceptional range and energy efficiency.
Under the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) standard, the vehicle achieves a maximum pure electric range of 225 kilometers, and its combined range reaches up to 1,730 kilometers on a full tank and full charge.
The M7 supports fast charging, taking only 15 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
The SUV is built on the GEA Evo (Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture Evo) platform released by Geely in 2025.
It is equipped with the 1.5L Thor EM hybrid system, featuring an engine thermal efficiency of 47.26% and a fuel consumption as low as 3.35 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted.
The M7 targets the highly price-sensitive 100,000 yuan to 150,000 yuan family car segment, as Geely attempts to grab more market share through an aggressive pricing strategy.
This price range has long been dominated by rival BYD's Song series. BYD recently launched the longer-range Song Pro DM-i Feichi edition to consolidate its position.
The launch of the new car is crucial for the Geely Galaxy brand to regain sales momentum. The brand's overall sales had experienced year-on-year declines for three consecutive months.
In March, Geely Galaxy sold 82,744 vehicles, down 8.09% year-on-year, although this represented a 13.15% increase from the previous month, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid models are becoming Geely's core growth engine, with sales reaching 56,762 units in March, a year-on-year increase of 70%.
