Leapmotor is confident in achieving its target of one million annual deliveries this year, as it sees a surge in orders for its new models and a rapid ramp-up in production capacity.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker remains confident in hitting the one-million-unit goal for the full year based on its sales progress in April, local media outlet Mingjing Pro reported Sunday, citing Zhu Jiangming, the company's founder, chairman and CEO.
Leapmotor's deliveries rebounded to 50,029 units in March, bringing its first-quarter total to 110,155 units — a 25.82% increase year-on-year — after navigating a slow season at the start of the year.
Order performance for the newly launched A10 and D19 models has far exceeded internal expectations, providing stronger visibility for full-year sales, Zhu said.
The A10 entered a double-shift production mode in late April, boosting daily capacity to over 1,000 units, according to Cao Li, senior vice president of Leapmotor.
Monthly production of the A10 is expected to surpass 26,000 units in May and further push toward the 30,000 to 36,000 range in June, Cao said.
The D19 is also in a rapid ramp-up phase. The SUV, positioned for the higher-end market, has not only seen orders beat expectations but also recorded actual transaction prices concentrated above 250,000 yuan ($36,620), showing initial success in the brand's upmarket push.
Leapmotor has now formed a product matrix covering four major series: A, B, C, and D. The A series targets lower-tier markets, the D series drives brand elevation, while the B and C series maintain a stable sales foundation to support economies of scale.
The company also launched the Lafa 5 Ultra during the Beijing Auto Show, with starting prices ranging from 118,800 yuan to 124,800 yuan.
The compact hatchback measures 4,490 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,510 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm.
Powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 180 kW, the Lafa 5 Ultra can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.9 seconds.
The vehicle offers two range variants, with battery ranges of 500 km and 600 km, respectively.
The Lafa 5 Ultra comes standard with 27 perception hardware components, including LiDAR, and is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 assisted-driving chip boasting 200 TOPS of computing power.
Beyond capacity expansion, Leapmotor is incorporating service quality into its core strategy. The company has made user satisfaction metrics a key performance indicator, reviewed monthly by the executive team, to support brand stability following larger-scale deliveries.
Overseas markets are viewed as another key growth engine, Zhu said, noting that Europe has become Leapmotor's most important region abroad. Germany and the UK rank at the top in sales, with the region's overall performance significantly outpacing others.
The company said that overseas sales now account for more than 36% of its total. The future goal is to gradually shift the domestic-to-overseas ratio from 60-40 to having overseas markets contribute 60%.
Leapmotor can only be considered truly globalized when its overseas sales share reaches 60%, Zhu said, adding that this target will serve as a core benchmark for the coming years.
Leapmotor plans to launch localized production in Spain in the fourth quarter of 2026, using a Completely Knock Down (CKD) assembly model, and will establish a local operational system covering manufacturing, logistics, finance, and branding, Zhu said.
With an intensive roll-out of new models, including the A05 and D99 slated for a mid-year launch, management expects products introduced this year to contribute about 60% of full-year sales.
