Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) has begun pre-sales for the B01, targeting China's mid-size electric sedan market with affordable prices.
The company announced the start of pre-sales for the B01 at an event last night, with a starting price of RMB 105,800 ($14,770), lower than the Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) Mona M03 electric sedan.
Specifically, Leapmotor is offering five variants of the B01 in the pre-sales, including three with a CLTC range of 550 km, starting at RMB 105,800, RMB 115,800, and RMB 125,800; and two with a CLTC range of 650 km, starting at RMB 125,800 and RMB 135,800.
Leapmotor has equipped the highest-priced variants of both range options with LiDAR to enhance smart driving performance.
The B01 will be the second model in Leapmotor's B series, with the first model, the B10 SUV (sport utility vehicle), launched on April 10.
The model made its debut at the 2025 Shanghai auto show in April, with dimensions of 4,770 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,735 mm.
For reference, the Xpeng Mona M03 has dimensions of 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. The Tesla Model 3 measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,848 mm in width, and 1,442 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.
The B01 is equipped with a single motor and offers two rear motor options, with peak power outputs of 132 kW and 160 kW, and peak torque of 175 Nm and 240 Nm, respectively.
This powertrain enables the B01 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 to 8.7 seconds.
The three variants with a CLTC range of 550 km are equipped with a 56.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, while the two variants with a range of 650 km are equipped with a 67.1 kWh LFP battery pack.
The model supports fast charging, enabling it to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in about 18 minutes.
Leapmotor currently sells the T03, B10, C01, C10, C11, and C16 models in China. Except for the T03 and B10, which are only available as battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants, all other models also offer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.
The B series is aimed at a lower-priced market segment than the C series and targets higher sales volumes.
On March 10, Leapmotor management said in a media interview that they were confident in achieving monthly sales of over 40,000 units for the B series models.
The company delivered a record 45,067 vehicles in May, representing a year-on-year increase of 148.10 percent and a month-on-month increase of 9.82 percent.
From January to May, Leapmotor delivered 173,658 vehicles, up 160.83 percent year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Leapmotor's sales target for 2025 is 500,000 to 600,000 units, about double the 293,724 units delivered in 2024.
On June 18, Leapmotor reached a cumulative delivery volume of 800,000 units.
