BYD Changsha and BYD Xi'an are the fifth and sixth vessels in BYD's car carrier fleet, following the previous four: BYD Explorer No. 1, BYD Hefei, BYD Changzhou, and BYD Shenzhen.

At the end of last month, the same Weibo blogger said that BYD's seventh car carrier had been launched, but did not mention the vessel's name.

In March, the blogger said that BYD Changsha was about to be launched, marking BYD's second car carrier capable of transporting 9,200 vehicles. On April 2, the BYD Xi'an car carrier was officially launched.

BYD Shenzhen is currently the only 9,200-vehicle-capacity car carrier in operation for BYD, having arrived in Brazil during its maiden voyage at the end of last month.

Except for the BYD Explorer No. 1 -- the first ship in BYD's fleet -- its other car carriers are named after the cities where BYD's vehicle production bases are located.

BYD has seen strong sales growth over the past few years, quickly becoming the world's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer.

The company aims to sell 5.5 million vehicles in 2025, including over 800,000 units in overseas markets, according to Wang Chuanfu, BYD's chairman and president, on March 25.

In the first five months of the year, BYD sold 1,763,369 NEVs, including passenger and commercial vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 38.70 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

It sold 374,217 vehicles in overseas markets from January to May, up 112.13 percent year-on-year, accounting for 21.22 percent of total sales during the same period.

Morning Midas was transporting about 3,000 cars from several Chinese automakers, including Chery and Great Wall Motor, according to Bloomberg.
