- Li Auto expects steady monthly deliveries of the Li Mega to reach 2,500-3,000 units, doubling the MPV's previous performance.
- Li Mega Home began deliveries in late May, with order volume significantly exceeding initial plans, said Li Auto.
Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has provided new sales guidance for the Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), suggesting that the model is poised to reverse its previous sluggish performance.
Based on order volume, Li Auto estimates that steady-state monthly deliveries for the Li Mega could reach 2,500 to 3,000 units, representing a 150 percent to 200 percent increase compared to the performance of the 2024 model year, the company said on June 1.
The Chinese automaker said this when sharing its May delivery figures on Weibo, which was not mentioned in its English-language delivery announcement.
Li Mega Home began deliveries in late May, with order volumes significantly exceeding initial plans, and production capacity for the zero-gravity rotating seats is currently ramping up, the company said on Weibo.
Li Auto delivered 40,856 vehicles in May, up 16.66 percent from 35,020 in the same month last year and up 20.38 percent from 33,939 in April.
Li Auto currently offers the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models Li L9, Li L8, Li L7, Li L6, and the all-electric Li Mega MPV.
The company did not disclose delivery performance by model in May, and such data is expected to be available in the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) figures to be released later this month.
Li Auto launched the updated Li Mega MPV on April 23, its highest-priced model. At the time, it rolled out a higher-priced Home variant with a starting price of RMB 559,800 ($77,750).
The first batch of Li Mega Home vehicles rolled off the production line on May 20 and began deliveries on May 23.
The Li Mega is Li Auto's first BEV model, launched on March 1, 2024, with a starting price of RMB 559,800 at that time.
Less than two months after its launch, the price was reduced by RMB 30,000 to RMB 529,800.
Li Auto had high hopes for the Li Mega, but its performance fell far short of expectations and also dragged down sales of the company's other models in the first half of last year.
In 2024, the Li Mega delivered 10,798 units, contributing just 2.16 percent of Li Auto's annual delivery volume of 500,508 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first four months of this year, the Li Mega delivered 2,507 units, accounting for 1.98 percent of Li Auto's deliveries during the same period.
