Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has begun mass production of the Home variant of the highest priced Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), with deliveries set to begin in three days.
The Li Mega Home rolled off the assembly line today at the company's plant in Beijing and deliveries will begin on May 23, Li Auto announced today.
The Li Mega is Li Auto's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, initially launched on March 1, 2024.
The MPV was previously only available in one variant, the Ultra, with a starting price of RMB 529,800 ($73,360).
Li Auto launched the updated Li Mega Ultra on April 23, the first day of the 2025 Shanghai auto show, with an unchanged starting price.
Li Auto rolled out a special edition for the MPV at the time, the Li Mega Home, with a starting price of RMB 559,800.
The Li Mega Home uses rotatable zero-gravity seats in the second row and soft-close doors in the first row.
The Li Mega Home is powered by an Nvidia Thor-U smart driving chip with 700 TOPS of computing power and will be able to support VLA (Visual-Language-Action) large models, Li Auto said today.
During Li Auto's fourth-quarter 2024 earnings analyst call on March 14, the company's management said it initiated research and development on the next-generation VLA model, which will be released along with the Li i8, its first all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle).
Li Auto currently offers five models -- Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, Li L9, and Li Mega -- with the L-series being the extended-range SUVs and the Li Mega being the all-electric MPV.
The company is pushing ahead with charging facilities in preparation for the launch of more BEV models.
As of today, Li Auto has 2,300 supercharging stations in China, providing 12,500 charging stalls, it said today.
When the Li i8 is launched, Li Auto will have more than 2,500 supercharging stations in China, it said. It previously said the Li i8 would be launched in July.
The company delivered 33,939 vehicles in April, up 31.61 percent from 25,787 in the same month last year, but down 7.46 percent from 36,674 in March.
So far this year, Li Auto has delivered 126,803 vehicles, up 19.41 percent year-on-year.
Li Auto will announce its first quarter unaudited financial results on Thursday, May 29, before the US stock markets open.
