Nio's swap stations complete initial coverage of all counties in Guangdong

Nio's (NYSE: NIO) battery swap stations have completed initial coverage of all counties in Guangdong province in southern China, marking another milestone in its Power Up Counties program.With two new battery swap stations going into operation in Guangdong, Nio Power has achieved coverage of all counties in the province with the stations, the electric vehicle (EV) maker announced today on Weibo.

Nio Power is the energy arm of Nio and is responsible for the company's charging and battery swap network. In China, counties are smaller administrative units than cities.

As of now, Nio has 428 battery swap stations in Guangdong, according to the company.

Nio currently has 3,289 battery swap stations in China, of which 979 are located along highways.

It has 2,794 supercharging stations in China providing 12,878 superchargers and 1,726 destination charging stations providing 13,228 charging piles.

The company unveiled its Power Up Counties program at the Nio Power Up 2024 event on August 20, 2024, with a goal of having its battery swap station network cover over 2,300 counties by December 31, 2025, across all 27 provincial administrative regions.

Under the program, Nio also aims to have its charging network cover all counties in China by June 30, 2025.

On December 30, 2024, Nio announced that it had completed its Power Up Counties program in Jiangsu, with a total of 383 battery swap stations in the eastern Chinese province.

On March 28, the company completed its Power Up Counties program in Zhejiang, with 443 battery swap stations in the province.

Jiangsu and Zhejiang are among the provinces with the most owners of Nio, which is based in neighboring Shanghai city.

In a live video broadcast on February 8, William Li, Nio's founder, chairman and CEO, said battery swap stations construction would be a priority for Nio this year, with the Power Up Counties program to be completed in 14 provinces in the first half of the year.

Li is currently in Guangdong, inspecting Nio's major battery swap stations in the province.
