Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup Rox Motor has expanded into the Saudi market as it focuses its resources overseas.
The company announced its official entry into the Saudi market with its all-terrain SUV (sport utility vehicle) Rox 01 at the LEAP 2025 event, which kicked off on February 9, according to a press release today.
Rox Motor has secured more than 200 orders in Saudi Arabia and sales are ongoing, it said.
The company officially opened its first Saudi showroom in An Nasin, Riyadh, in partnership with Laith Al Obaidi Group.
The brand's flagship Saudi showroom on Khurais Road will open later this month.
Rox Motor was founded in January 2021 and launched its first model on August 22, 2023, the Rox 01, an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV).
The Rox 01 starts at RMB 299,900 ($41,050) in China and competes mainly with Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L8.
The model has a combined range of up to 1,100 kilometers on a full tank of gas and a full charge, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.5 seconds.
Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiatives provide a unique market opportunity for Rox Motor to play a leading role in the country's automotive future, the company said.
Rox Motor will launch a new global model in the second half of this year, and plans to launch one new model each year as part of a steady expansion strategy, said co-founder and CEO Jarvis Yan.
To date, Rox Motor has established sales and service networks in more than 20 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates, and the total number of orders for the Rox 01 in overseas markets has surpassed 10,000 units, the company said.
Rox Motor previously announced that it delivered a record 1,268 units in December 2024.
That was the first time Rox Motor had announced delivery figures, saying it was the sixth consecutive month of sequential growth.
