Zeekr started pre-sales for the Zeekr 7X on August 30th, with the official launch set for September 20 and deliveries to begin in late September.
Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) said it received more than 20,000 pre-orders for its Zeekr 7X in the first week after pre-sales began, demonstrating the SUV's (sport utility vehicle) initial acceptance.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker began pre-sales of the Zeekr 7X on August 30, the first day of the 2024 Chengdu auto show, and the official launch will be on September 20.
The Zeekr 7X will begin deliveries in China by the end of September, followed by global market deliveries within a year, it said on August 30.
The model has a starting pre-sale price of RMB 239,000 yuan ($33,720) and is aimed at taking on the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y, which currently has a starting price of RMB 249,900 yuan in China.
The Zeekr 7X, with an internal codename CX1e, is based on Geely's SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) and measures 4,825 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm.
The model is based entirely on the 800 V high-voltage platform, which is expected to deliver greater energy efficiency than models based on regular 400 V platforms.
It is available with two battery options, a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a CLTC range of 605 kilometers. A longer-range version with a 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ternary battery pack extends the CLTC range to 780 kilometers.
Zeekr had said that its engineers developed the LFP battery to have the world's fastest charging capability, taking just 10.5 minutes to charge the vehicle from 10 percent to 80 percent.
The Zeekr 7X will be Zeekr's second model targeting the mainstream EV market, while SUVs are usually more favored among Chinese consumers because of their larger interior space.
The Zeekr 007 electric sedan, which went on sale December 27, 2023, is Zeekr's first model to target the mainstream EV market.
Zeekr's other models currently on sale include the Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009, and Zeekr X, all of which target niche markets.
Zeekr delivered 18,015 vehicles in August, up 46.43 percent year-on-year and up 15.08 percent from July.
From January through August, Zeekr delivered 121,540 vehicles, up 81.47 percent year-on-year.
