Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, will build a high-performance variant based on the Zeekr 001 shooting brake to showcase its technological muscle.
Zeekr will launch the Zeekr 001 FR electric supercar, the company said in a press release today, adding that recent rumors on the web that the company will launch Zeekr 001 facelifts are inaccurate.
The Zeekr 001 FR will be the best of Zeekr's high-performance all-electric vehicles, priced at more than RMB 1 million ($140,000), it said.
The model will break the performance monopoly of traditional ultra-luxury sports cars priced in the RMB 10 million range, giving consumers the ultimate driving experience in the pure electric, smart era, Zeekr said.
The Zeekr 001 FR will be officially unveiled at the Zeekr technology launch event, it said, without providing further details.
Zeekr was officially launched as a standalone company in March 2021, with its first model, the Zeekr 001, launched on April 17, 2021, and deliveries beginning in October 2021.
The Zeekr 001 is currently available in four versions, two of which start at RMB 300,000 and the other two at RMB 349,000 and RMB 386,000 respectively.
Only one of these four versions comes with a single motor that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, while the other three come with dual motors that can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
Priced at more than RMB 1 million means that the Zeekr 001 FR will cost about three times as much as the regular Zeekr 001.
In addition to the Zeekr 001, Zeekr has two other models on sale -- the Zeekr 009 MPV, and the Zeekr X city SUV.
Zeekr delivered a record 12,039 vehicles in July, the second time this year it has surpassed the 10,000 mark, according to figures it announced on August 1st.
Zeekr kicked off its efforts to enter international markets this year, announcing on June 27 that it began pre-sales of the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X in Europe, with deliveries set to begin during the year.
On July 10, Zeekr said it would launch the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X in Israel, with pre-sales and subsequent deliveries expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
On August 7, Zeekr announced its entry into the Kazakhstan market, where it will initially offer the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X. They will be available for pre-order beginning in September and delivered to customers in November.
